I have a cup of tea in one hand and Michael Palin’s dulcet tones filling my ears. I just finished getting the spare room ready for a guest arriving tomorrow. I wrote a letter to a friend a little while ago and I also spent some time reading a James Clavell book. I did the dishes. I tidied the kitchen. I went out for a lovely lunch.
Etc. Etc.
And the whole time I thought about Candy Crush, about level 179, which had almost ruined me. It’s tough at the moment but I feel like I have an opportunity here, a chance at a new lease of life. I am reading and listening to audiobooks more. Behind The Candelabra was fabulous, in case anyone was thinking of downloading it. I’m now listening to Michael Palin. I walked in the park for hours yesterday. I also did a jigsaw. Look.
And then, because I am so witty and clever, I did the following. Does anyone remember this amazing book about Ham House that I bought myself for Christmas?
Well, get ready for it. Look what I did.
I replaced the painting of Charles II with the jigsaw of the Famous Five book cover!
You see? You see how my imagination is coming alive now that I have been freed from the chains of Candy Crush.
In other news: I’m going to Australia in a week or two. And Singapore.

She’s brilliant, isn’t she? Someone recently gave me a book about the time she spent in Dorset. I also went to the same university that she went to. Isn’t that epic? I’m basically her.

There’s a reason why I refuse to even TRY Candy Crush despite the fact that 99.9% of people around me are playing it. I’m unproductive enough. π

Yeh. I can spend hours on Candy Crush. Literally, hours. Awful.
